Frequently Asked
Questions
Do I have to establish a permanent
residence in Tartupaluk in order to acquire Tartupalummiut
nationality or citizenship?
No. One of Tartupaluk's major development goals is the
promotion of pan-circumpolar co-operation. We want to give
all Northern peoples a voice in international affairs. We
encourage current residents of all countries, especially
the Nordic area, Russia, the United States, and Canada, to
acquire Tartupalummiut nationality and citizenship in
order to make their voices and interests heard on the
international stage.

Will Tartupalummiut nationality or
citizenship affect my existing nationality or citizenship?
No. Tartupaluk does not require you to renounce other
nationalities or citizenships you hold in order to acquire
ours. Many of our nationals hold multiple citizenships in
other States. You should be aware that Tartupaluk is still
in the process of developing bilateral and multilateral
foreign relations with other countries. Based on the
recent experiences of other newly independent States, this
process could take several months or even years to
complete. Until then, your Tartupalummiut nationality or
citizenship may not be recognized in foreign courts.
