  The Five Pillars of Development

Tartupaluk's long-term development strategy is based on five fundamental pillars identified by our Executive Council. The government's current development programmes are focused on achieving the goals embodied by the five pillars, which are as follows:

1. International recognition
We believe that demonstrating Tartupaluk's willingness to conform to the standards of international law and its reliablity as a partner for other nations in international affairs is the best way to ensure the widespread acceptance of Tartupaluk as an equal among the nations of the world. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is engaged in several activities aimed at integrating Tartupaluk into multinational organizations and governance frameworks.

From its accession to multilateral treaties to its current bids to join global, regional, and specialized organizations of nations and States, Tartupaluk is hard at work proving to the world that Northern voices deserve to be heard in the halls of power.

2. Population growth
Tartupaluk is one of the world's smallest States, and home to one of the world's smallest nations. But Tartupaluk is also a country that welcomes newcomers from all parts of the world. Our government is actively working to recruit people from all regions of the circumpolar North and beyond in order to channel our voices in support of development for Northern stakeholders.

3. Opening revenue streams
Facilitating economic development is a high priority for Tartupaluk. Through the development of innovative programmes like the Bank of Tartupaluk and the corporate and shipping registries administered by the Office of the Greffier, we are building interest in foreign investment and taking the first steps toward creating an economically self-sustaining and autonomous circumpolar North.

4. Government services
Tartupaluk's government is working hard to bring all Tartupalummiut the benefits and services they deserve. Our Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the people of Tartupaluk uninterrupted access to basic resources such as clean drinking water, shelter, warmth, and food. But beyond this, Tartupalummiut nationality provides our people with the protection of Tartupaluk's Constitution and national values wherever and whenever they travel. Unique strategies like our electromagnetic spectrum registry offer a new and distinctly Northern take on resource allocation, while services under development such as our upgraded passport system will make certain that the rights of Tartupaluk's citizens are respected by foreign authorities.

5. Pan-circumpolar co-operation
Tartupaluk is committed to providing a means by which the many peoples of the North can gather together to represent their unique interests in international forums. At the same time, we recognize that cultural and economic co-operation is as important as our political work. Tartupaluk's promotion of Inuktitut to nationwide official language status is a first among sovereign States, and our Language Bureau's efforts to develop a standard interdialectical writing system will lay a foundation for the increased sharing of traditional knowledge and culture among Northern peoples.

But these initiatives are only the beginning of what holds the promise of becoming a diverse and vibrant movement in support of Northern interests both at home and around the world.
